Another important focus area of Bejon Desai Foundation is skill development. The Foundation decided to work in the area of skill development understanding that every child may not be able to excel in academics and may leave education in between. Such children can enhance their other skills to earn a livelihood for themselves when they grow up and can get better insights about themselves regarding their future career. The skill development program helps such children from grade 6th to 10th as well as unemployed youth to get trained in various skills.

The Foundation started working in the field of Skill Development initially by financially supporting 180 students for training in Electrical Wiring, Mobile Repairing and Basic Tailoring. These courses were run at Dhanalaxmi High School, Pathardi Phata, through our training partner, the Kohinoor Technical Institute, Nashik. During this journey, we thought of having our own Skill Development Centre.

This thought culminated in Bejon Desai Foundation signing an MOU with Unique Skill Development Centre, Pune in 2018 and establishing a state of Art Training Centre at Dhanalaxmi High School, Pathardi Phata for supporting Skill Development in various technical fields such as CNC Operating and Programming, Mobile Repairing, A/C Refrigerator. In addition, the automobile workshop is equipped with two-wheeler and four-wheeler sections. The four-wheeler section has both, petrol and diesel engines. Every year more than 600 students receive Skill Development Training through this centre. This training involves nearly 90 hours of contact time which comprises of 30% theory and 70% practical. We have gone a step further, by providing this Skill Development Training at the campus of various schools such as three schools of Dang Seva Mandal at Ambegan, Sule and Vaare, and of Pune Vidyarthi Gruha, Nashik.
