Teacher Empowerment through Integral Education
Teacher Empowerment through Integral Education
One of the key areas of work of Educator’s Academy is Teacher Empowerment through Integral Education.
Before deciding on the type of workshops to be conducted for teacher empowerment, we did a lot of study about the teacher empowerment programs currently available. We realized that these programs focus largely on the mental faculty in terms of concepts and theories and give little scope for hands on experience of how to use the strategies and tools in the classrooms. To address this concern and to strengthen the capacity of the teachers, we designed workshops which address not just the mental faculty but also the other parts of their being such as physical, vital, psychic and spiritual. This also provides them with an opportunity to learn and experience how to implement Integral Education tools in their educational spaces and make the teaching experience more complete.
Integral Education as envisioned by Sri Aurobindo and The Mother, regards the child as a growing soul and helps him to bring out all that is best, most powerful, most innate and living in his nature. The focus and emphasis in Integral Education is not just information and skills acquisition but also self-development, triggered from within the child and supported and nourished by teachers and parents. Every experience becomes a learning tool for the child in its growth and this helps the child to become aware of all the parts of his being. The child gets an environment which is best suited for his or her inner expression. Integral Education gives an opportunity to all stakeholders to learn how to know oneself and control oneself.
