Weekly Book Circle

“The true method of studying Sri Aurobindo’s works is to read a little at a time, with concentration, keeping the mind as silent as possible, without actively trying to understand, but turned upwards, in silence, and aspiring for the light. Understanding will come little by little” – The Mother, On Education.

As an attempt to understand the writings of Sri Aurobindo and the Mother, the Foundation holds a weekly book circle on every Saturday morning. The book circle began in July 2020 and continues till date. We are reading the book, On Education, a compilation of a series of articles written by Sri Aurobindo and the Mother. This book is the fundamental book on Integral Education. In the initial few months, the book circle was facilitated by Prasad Eledath and thereafter, it has been facilitated by Shivakumar, Director of SAFIER, Sri Aurobindo Society, Puducherry. Every book circle begins with the Mother’s music and later on, we read some passages from the book, the meaning of which is explained by Shivakumar followed by interactive discussion. Reading in a collectivity helps each one to understand and reflect upon what has been read and adds up to the joy of reading and understanding the works of Sri Aurobindo and the Mother.
